Originally dedicated to St. Peter's Bonds, this church was first mentioned in 1129. The church's rights then passed to the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels. Little is known about the first church. The tower of the current church probably has a Romanesque core. The Gothic choir was possibly built in the 15th or 16th century. In 1583, however, the church was set on fire twice by mutinous soldiers under the command of Alexander Farnese. The choir was quickly restored to service, but the nave was destroyed. The church roof was repaired in 1602. The final restoration took place between 1604 and 1610. During the Dutch War (1672-1679), the church also suffered damage, which was repaired in 1685. Numerous maintenance works were carried out, especially in the 18th century, but the church underwent a major renovation in 1782. It was provided with aisles, and the tower was clad with the same stone used for the aisles. In 1793, an organ was purchased from Adrien Rochet, but in 1796, almost all the church furnishings were confiscated and sold at public auction. However, it was repurchased by the church treasurer, and in 1803 the organ was reinstalled.

Nice location because you can imagine yourself in different parts of the world by the large number of exotic trees that were planted here sorted by their habitat. This allows you to walk from the West Coast of America to China through the different forests that were planted to imitate nature there as closely as possible.
