Maagdendale Abbey was founded in 1233 by Cistercian nuns and grew into one of the most important women's abbeys in Flanders. The place where a drop of beer was also offered.

Oudenaarde's town hall is one of the finest examples of Brabantine Late Gothic architecture in Belgium. It's a place filled with stories, ceremonies, and traditions, and an absolute eye-catcher on any walk through the city. With the sun shining from above, it's truly magnificent 😍

St. Walburga's Church is one of Oudenaarde's most recognizable monuments, with its 88-meter-high tower towering high above the city. It's the ideal place to start a walk.

I like it, as it has an original architecture, and it is a point where you can choose in between at least 5 nice rides.

Certainly, a count's castle chapel already stood here in the first half of the eleventh century. It was located on the outer bend of the Scheldt bend, which had only been filled in between 1963 and 1970, at the Meerspoort gate, and was dedicated to Saint Walburga, an English nun (710-779) who evangelized in southern Germany. The church was reduced to ashes in 1127 and, after being rebuilt in Tournai stone, reconsecrated in 1159. It had a rectangular choir and a crossing tower. (Information board on site)
