There are ponds there and it's a lovely place. I had a picnic at the pond in the grass and enjoyed the view and the shade. Respect that it's private property though!!!

This tourist capital in the north of the province of Luxembourg is tucked away in a bend of the Ourthe. This hilly landscape of dense forests has long attracted generals and castle builders. The first 'tourists' were the Celts, followed by the Romans, the Counts of Namur, the Dukes of Luxembourg, the Burgundians, the Austrians, Emperor Charles and Philip II. Then came Louis XIV, who thought the castle looked like nothing. He quickly had it demolished and asked a student of Vauban to build a new version. In December 1944, the city was largely destroyed during the Battle of the Bulge, but then bravely rebuilt.

The castle was built in 1758 by Guillaume Joseph de Harlez and then completed and decorated by his son Simon-Joseph de Harlez in 1770. The distinctive U-shape is made of whitewashed bricks and blue stones under slate roofs, with a courtyard surrounded by outbuildings . The lordship chapel is similar to Saint Remacle and was decorated with a baroque altar. The interior of the castle is beautifully decorated, especially with rococo stucco by the artist François-Joseph Dukers and paintings by Jean-Dieudonne Deneux. To the north, a walled garden from the 18th century was transformed into a French garden at the beginning of the 20th century. At the is a beautiful view of the Ourthe and the landscaped garden at the rear of interesting heritage trees from the second half of the 19th century.
