Reisach pumped storage plant The plant was built in 1954 by OBAG (Energiebedarf Ostbayern AG) and put into operation in 1955 with 33 megawatts. In 1961, the output was increased to 99 megawatts by installing two more machines. The power plant belongs to the Pfreimd power plant group (also called the Jansen power plant group), which, in addition to the Reisach power plant, also includes the Tanzmühle and Trausnitz power plants. The group uses the water of the Pfreimd River as well as the gradient between the Rabenleite high reservoir (as upstream water), the Kainzmühl reservoir and the Trausnitz reservoir (as downstream water). The Reisach plant is used for pumped storage from the Trausnitz reservoir, on whose bank it is located, over a height difference of 180 m through the 1,315 meter long Reisach tunnel (pressure tunnel) to the high storage facility. For this purpose, it has three Francis turbines, each with 35 megawatts of installed useful power, and three centrifugal pumps with 28 megawatts of power consumption. The power plant is electrically connected to the substation in Weiden via a 110 kV line. In 2001, OBAG merged into E.ON Bayern and the power plant was operated by the subsidiary E.ON Wasserkraft. In 2009, E.ON sold several power plants, including this one, to GDF Suez (now Engie) for antitrust reasons. Source www.wikipedia.de
