This is one of the oldest churches on the entire island – the first mentions of it date back to 1230! Originally, it was a rural church, but at the beginning of the 14th century, it was transformed into a convent church for the newly founded Cistercian monastery. What is amazing is that the lower part of the main nave still consists of the original, raw field stones that remember those medieval times.

The church in Krummin looks back on a long and interesting history. Built as a village church, rebuilt and expanded after 1303 as a church for the Cistercian convent, neglected and dilapidated after the dissolution of the convent in 1563, saved by the Krummin parish from 1979 and fundamentally renovated in 1991-1993, it stands open to locals and tourists for devotion and contemplation.
