On the edge of the Abenstal valley, in the east of the Dürnbuch forest, you will find a large field of sand dunes. At the end of the Pleistocene and in the early Holocene, a dry, cold climate with strong westerly winds favored the formation of drifting sand dunes. A large part of the dunes here are formed as line dunes, which are formed parallel to the prevailing wind direction in a west-east direction, but transverse and sickle dunes also occur. The beer garden in Ratzenhofen is in a great location and worth a visit. The food on offer was more than enough for me.

Current opening times, events (not just music with dancing on Sundays), celebration options (in the castle hall - formerly the brewery - with candle lighting and the registry office right in the house), history can be found at https://www.ratzenhofen.de/. In any case, it's worth a visit because of the good food and the relaxed atmosphere. The Bierkrughäusl in the beer garden is also worth seeing.
