Tips from the Community

Teresa🙋♊🚴
April 5, 2026, Adda River Cycle Path

A long and very varied cycle path with diverse environments and points of interest along the route, where the initial part runs through Leonardo's Adda ecomuseum, places where Leonardo da Vinci designed and carried out several hydraulic experiments with the river. The cycle-pedestrian path winds alongside the Adda river between Cassano d’Adda and Lecco, mainly on wide dirt roads. During the route, we will have the opportunity to see monumental works and world heritage sites such as the Edison and Enel hydroelectric dams, Crespi d’Adda, the locks designed by Leonardo and his ferry, a revolutionary hydromechanical work for its time. In the final stretch, we will skirt the lakes of Olginate and Garlate and important natural areas, finally reaching the center of Lecco for a snack or a coffee.

The river is very clean and the view is really suggestive, even if I wouldn't call this place a "lagoon".

The Robbiate Dam (also called the "New Dam" to distinguish it from the older one built in Paderno d'Adda) is an artificial barrier on the Adda River located in the municipality of Robbiate, approximately 700 metres upstream from the Ponte San Michele.

Very beautiful location, made even more characteristic by the presence of Leonardo da Vinci's rope boat. Excellent starting point for the most beautiful bike excursions on the Adda.

Continue on the cobblestone path uphill to the cemetery. Take a right and at the stop sign go down towards the Edison station and then take the Adda cycle path again. Be careful on the final downhill stretch for about 200m. There are sloping stones, so humidity can make the difference.
