The path is always clean but from Sondio towards Bormio, the other side is not well maintained: the path is full of roots and sand

Chestnut groves are an iconic element of the Valtellina forest landscape. Thousands of them were cultivated in this mid-mountain area, because in the post-war period and in times of famine, the chestnut was an important source of sustenance. Near Piasci there is a chestnut tree with a picturesque trunk, which has placidly overlooked the Valtellina for centuries.

Very beautiful landscape and beautiful bike path along the Adda. However, a short part of the section is not well secured. More information: https://www.valtellina.it/de/bike/radtourismus/sentierovaltellina

Small village on the outskirts of Sondrio located in a basin surrounded by vineyards. It extends from the bottom of the valley, where it laps the banks of the Adda, to the watershed with the Val Torreggio, in the municipality of Torre di Santa Maria. The maximum altitude of the territory corresponds to the top of Monte Rolla, 2272 m a.s.l.

Splendid centuries-old chestnut, over six centuries of life. Nicknamed the Centòn, perhaps it owes its longevity to the shadow it gave to the saint Benigno de 'Medici during the summer breaks (made even more pleasant by the excellent local wine).
