Be careful on the westward ascent! The final 150 meters to the summit are quite steep and very exposed. The terrain is also not ideal, consisting of scree, small stones, tufts of grass, and loose earth, which can lead to falls. Furthermore, the path from this side is almost completely unmarked, and the depression between Rocca Ramusa and Rocca Busambra is completely overgrown, at least in summer. Furthermore, the path to the summit itself from the west is dominated by tall grasses, thistles, and other plants at this time of year. In high temperatures, you should carry at least two liters of water per person and wear a hat. In summer, I recommend spending plenty of time in the depression between Rocca Ramusa and Rocca Busambra because of the thick undergrowth there. I advise inexperienced hikers against the westward ascent.

The route that connects Prizzi to Castronovo di Sicilia, about 11 km long, is an authentic journey of discovery between two mountain villages steeped in history. Suitable for hikers who love long panoramic crossings, this trail passes through uncontaminated natural environments, among pastures, woods and ridges with open views of the Sicani Mountains. The departure from Prizzi, an ancient village perched on a hill at over 900 meters above sea level, immediately offers spectacular views. It continues on a path that alternates gentle ups and downs, crossing hills and plains that were once frequented by shepherds and wayfarers. Arriving in Castronovo di Sicilia, the landscape slowly changes, revealing the rounded shapes of the valleys and the signs of the ancient Arab-Norman settlement. A route rich in scenic charm and cultural value, which connects two communities once united by exchanges, fairs and markets. Route difficulty: Medium – Requires good resistance for duration and mountain environment. Travel tips: • Perfect for mid-seasons, when the weather is cool and the colors are intense. • Bring trekking poles, water and a map. • Ideal for nature lovers, photography and long walks.

Very suggestive cathedral, both for its particular location, outside the town center immersed in a splendid landscape, and for its austere style, the colors of the facade integrate perfectly with the surrounding rocks.
