Perched on the hills of Valdambra, Rapale seems suspended in the Middle Ages. This small castle-village, contested for centuries by Florence and Siena, still preserves its paved road and ancient walls. From here, splendid views of vineyards, woods, and olive groves open up.

Sogna is a small village perched on the hills of the Valdambra, built around an ancient Ubertini castle. Today, only a few traces remain of the fortifications, destroyed during the long wars between Florence and Siena. Walking through the narrow streets, you can still feel the medieval atmosphere of the village, dominated by the Church of San Tommaso, documented as early as the 11th century. A quiet and evocative place, perfect for a break amidst history and views of the valley.

Badia a Ruoti is a fascinating monastic complex documented as early as 1076, when it joined the Camaldolese order and became one of the most influential religious centers in the Valdambra. The church still retains Romanesque elements, such as the 11th-century hanging porch, and inside, works of art including the Coronation of the Virgin by Neri di Bicci (1472). All around, the small stone village has remained almost unchanged over time. Not far away, the majestic Farnia di Badia a Ruoti stands tall, a centuries-old oak tree over 27 meters tall: a green giant that makes this place even more evocative.

The Galatrona Tower is an imposing 27-meter-high brick and sandstone watchtower, the only remaining vestige of a strategic 10th-century castle in Valdambra. Climbing its five interior floors, visitors can reach a panoramic terrace offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Tuscan landscape, from the Chianti mountains to the Arno Valley. It is open to visitors from April to October, generally on Saturdays and Sundays.

In Setteponti, shortly after Poggio Bagnoli coming from Arezzo, there is a fork on the left and immediately a dirt road, but in excellent condition. Climb of just under 3 km, gentle with only a few steeper points. At the top, views of both sides, Valdambra and Valdarno.

Characteristic stone village perched on a hill overlooking Valdambra and Valdarno. There is an inn, but we found it closed on Sunday.
