Spectacular is something else :-) But for the sake of completeness, one should have been there

Recommended even at very summery temperatures, as you (almost) only ride in the shade and there are plenty of benches and resting places along the way

The idyllic fire pond in Siek is located right on the main road – you'll pass it immediately if you walk through the village. Right next to the pond is an old telephone booth that has been converted into a book exchange. A very good idea.

Like so many springs, the Wandse spring is unfortunately not spectacular. It's not immediately recognizable as a spring, more like a small, inconspicuous lake, but every spring is a wonder of nature and therefore a highlight. The Wandse rises west of the village of Siek in the Stormarn district of Schleswig-Holstein and flows into the Alster in the center of Hamburg. Along the way, it receives the Braaker Au in Höltigbaum, the Stellmoorer Quellfluss in the Stellmoorer Tunneltal, the Stellau in Rahlstedt, the Berner Au in Farmsen, and the Rahlau in Tonndorf. The Peace Church in Siek, with its churchyard and former cemetery, stands prominently in the center of the village. Siek was first mentioned in writing in 1263. Presumably, the first church was also built around this time, making it one of the oldest church buildings in Stormarn. The first church was initially built in the 13th century without a chancel, using fieldstones, and was later expanded at least three times. This first church ultimately measured 31 meters in length and 16 meters in width. The fieldstone walls were exceptionally thick, reaching up to 1.40 meters. During the Baroque period, a 40-meter-high, shingle-covered church tower was built, integrated into the western gable. This tower served as a trigonometric base point after the surveying of the Danish kingdom. In 1880, the church was struck by lightning and burned down. The church walls were not damaged by the fire and could largely be used for the new building, constructed between 1880 and 1883 in the Neo-Gothic style. The new tower now stood 53 meters tall and continued to serve as a trigonometric base point for land surveying. A beautiful church just off the main street. You can see it from afar from all possible directions (i.e. the church tower) and is therefore a real landmark.
