Panoramically suggestive white/gravel military road and especially in the last 2 km, after the Galleria D'Havet, until the arrival at the Rifugio Achille Papa. Challenging uphill (in this case in the first part) considering both the slope and the ground.

A fantastic pass road! From Bolognano, the road winds its way up to Passo di Santa Barbara with a relatively constant gradient and numerous curves. The asphalt is in good condition, and there's almost no traffic (I was only overtaken by one car that morning). Once at the top, you can either drive back down the other side of the pass to Loppio or, after a 2km descent in Ronzo, turn left toward Passo Bordala.

Road to the Rifugio Achille Papa. This is where you walk down if you're doing a circular hike with the 52 tunnels.

The first plans for the construction of a refuge on Pasubio date back to 1907. However, they were not realized until after the First World War, when the Schio section of the CAI began to build a refuge in memory of the soldiers who had fallen on Pasubio. A wonderful pass road with little traffic! The road winds steadily uphill, bend after bend. There are frequent stretches of the road in the shade, so you can drive up even at midday in June.

Named after General Achille Papa, Gold Medal for military valor who died during the First World War in 1917, the refuge is located at the saddle of the Porte del Pasubio, at 1,928 meters above sea level, on the massif of the same name. Today the Papa refuge is owned by the CAI of Schio and boasts around sixty beds.
