The parish church of St. Andreas is, strictly speaking, the former parish church of Berchtesgaden. Because with secularization, the parish rights passed to the collegiate church of St. Peter and John. Nevertheless, a magnificent building worth seeing with artistic furnishings!

A really nice place for a break on the tour. We stopped after about 15 kilometers for a short lunch snack and went back again on the way back – this time for coffee and carrot cake. Both were super delicious, the atmosphere totally pleasant, and the stop was absolutely worth it every time. Definitely worth a stop – or even two 😜

Insider tips in Berchtesgaden include the Almbach Gorge, the Marktschellenberg Ice Cave, the Maria Gern pilgrimage church, and the Rothbach Falls. A ride on the Jennerbahn cable car for panoramic views is also recommended, as is a hike through the Klausbach Valley with its suspension bridge or a tour to the Rotspielscheibe. Local experiences like the Grassl mountain distillery with gentian tasting or cozy mountain huts like the Kührointhütte are also worth a visit.
