The structural remains were renovated in 2017. Several information boards tell of its history. https://www.stadtmuseum-jena.de/de/stadtmuseum/aussenstellen/karmelitenkloster/821798

After the previous Jenaer Theater went bankrupt in 1921 and was almost unplayable due to dilapidation, the commission was given to Walter Gropius for a comprehensive renovation and redesign. The theater was reopened in September 1922. After the Second World War, several extensions and conversions followed. In 1987, the building had to be largely closed again due to structural damage and could only be used for individual productions in certain areas. Since 1993, the theater has been gradually renovated and used for performances. More info: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theaterhaus_Jena https://www.theaterhaus-jena.de/

A bike path alongside the road is a better alternative to the busy road. The new asphalt makes for a great ride through the valley.
