Tips from the Community

Stenio Melani
July 4, 2026, Santuario Madonna del Campaccio

The Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Campaccio (also known as Sanctuary of the Madonna of Ardena or Madonna del Latte) is a Marian place of worship located in Ardena, a hamlet of Brusimpiano (Varese), near Lake Ceresio. Dating back to the early 17th century, the sanctuary owes its name to the legend of the discovery of a sacred image: a fresco of the Madonna and Child that was found twice in the locality called "Campaccio", interpreted by popular devotion as the Virgin's desire to have a church dedicated in that precise spot.
