Very nice hike...without any difficulties. You often travel hunchbacked...be careful of bumps in the head...they recommend a helmet...but just be careful.

A fantastic man-made ledge, entirely horizontal, since it is the site of an old, disused aqueduct that once supplied water to the Sanzeno countryside. It is equipped with a metal rope and a sturdy fence that protects from the significant exposure to the gorge below.

Helmet and appropriate footwear recommended. ATTENTION starting from 25/11/2024 the path above the Rio (section dug into the rock visible in the photos) is closed due to the risk of falling rocks following adverse weather conditions. To date (8/1/2025) it has not yet been reopened. It is however possible to follow the parallel and traced path along the provincial road 4 San Romedio.

The Rio Novella canyon can be explored independently, after paying the entrance ticket and collecting the protective helmet (included in the ticket price) that must be worn in the canyon. Over the millennia, water has dug and sculpted the rock, in some places the two walls almost touch, in other places the sunlight filters through, highlighting fossils and minerals. It is very suggestive to walk through it in the morning, with the sun's rays penetrating the final part of the gorge.

The path is almost entirely carved into the rock, and has a very special charm. It is worth walking. I recommend using it in the morning or when it is not too hot, preferably on weekdays (not too crowded) because it is not very wide.
