We have been traveling it for three years from Modena, a complete tour with a coffee break, 38-40 km, then you can add many variables such as Villa Sorra-San.Cesario-Vignola and then return to the route which is beautiful because you also experience the cherry fruit seasons -plums-peaches-pears-apples. Founded in 752 by Abbot Anselmo on the territory received as a gift from his brother-in-law, Astolfo, king of the Lombards between 749 and 756, the Nonantola Abbey was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Benedict, then to the holy Apostles, subsequently to Saint Sylvester, when the transfer of this pope from Rome to Nonantola took place. It still contains some relics of San Silvestro. The abbey archive still boasts more than 4,500 parchments today.
