A former railway station on the Bologna-Verona route which served the Bolognina hamlet of Crevalcore, this station was opened in 1941. On 7 January 2005 at 12.53pm, on a foggy day, a very serious train accident occurred here which caused death of 17 people and the wounding of another 80. Today a monument commemorates this tragic event. The station was definitively abandoned following the completion of the railway doubling, built on a new site. On 13 April 2021, the first Emilian section of the Ciclovia del Sole was inaugurated at the former Bolognina station: it is part of the EuroVelo 7 cycle path that connects the North Cape to Malta. The route from Mirandola to Osteria Nuova was created by recovering the former Bologna-Verona railway site. Today, however, not far from the old station premises, there is an equipped area where you can recharge e-bikes, sit down for a quick meal or fix your bike with various tools.
