Just 7 km away, on a hill covered in broom, is Denzano. In ancient times it was the site of a castle of which, unfortunately, only a square tower remains which dates back to the year 1000. The tower is approximately 15 meters high and is built with mixed material coming from local resources, rich in clay deposits. The area, in fact, can reserve surprises for mineralogy enthusiasts: on both sides of the hill gypsum crystals with an almost perfect shape also emerge. Inside the Castle there was a Parish Church dedicated to the Assumption since the Middle Ages. Of the original construction only the apse remains, dating back to the 12th century and built in the image of the famous prototype of the Modena Cathedral: a precious testimony of Romanesque in the Apennines. It is even thought that a student of the school of Lanfranco, architect of the Modena cathedral, worked on the construction site. The interior of the church was rebuilt at the beginning of the 17th century. Here there still remain a valuable sandstone baptismal font dating back to the 16th century, a precious 18th century organ and the scagliola frontals of the altars. The western stretch of La Via Romea Nonantolana also passes through Denzano; it is the 3rd stage of the ancient pilgrims' journey 'Castelvetro di Modena - Pavullo nel Frignano'.

A very small village now abandoned. Despite this however, if you arrive hungry just below the bell tower you will find an excellent inn, ideal for a good hot, typical and homemade meal!
