Panoramic place to see the plain from the hills of Castel d'Aiano

A magical place, for the ancient Romanesque church, for the even older and well-preserved Lombard baptismal font, for the nucleus with the thirteenth-century military tower, the internal courtyard with the well and the balcony of the sixteenth-seventeenth century building. For the care of the flowers and the wonderful and excellent restaurant created under the imposing beams of the old, enormous, barn. One of the unmissable sites, among the most pleasant and of greatest historical importance in the Apennines, not only in Bologna!

Near Cereglio (municipality of Vergato), inside the suggestive village of Pieve di Roffeno, stands the ancient Pieve di San Pietro, one of the few in the area to still preserve evident Romanesque traces dating back to the time of its construction ( mid 12th century). From a religious point of view, one of the most famous and ancient churches that meet in the diocese of Bologna, is characterized by an architectural structure of great interest, with an apse built in square work by Comacine masters from Tuscany. Inside there is the Baptismal Font which is considered the "jewel" of the Church: of Lombard style and dated around the 7th century, it certainly belonged to the pre-existing church in 1155. The sandstone basin is decorated with a crown of praying dolphins for the tail of clear symbolic value. The stone stoup made by a chisel and some fascinating tempera of particular beauty that appear on the mural plaster as well as the one depicting the Madonna of Loreto on a pillar of the central nave are also beautiful and valuable.
