Turn off the main path at this hiking parking lot and follow the hiking trail to Mitterbachel: it's worth it, many exotic trees are picturesquely planted there around two small forest ponds. Always worth a detour..

St. Bartholomew's Church, Oberstimm St. Bartholomew is the patron saint of the church in Oberstimm. He is said to have preached in India and Armenia, where he was also martyred. On March 11, 1963, the small church in Oberstimm was demolished; only the tower remained standing and was replaced by a larger one. As early as June 29, 1963, Canon Josef Strobl laid the foundation stone for the new church. On September 5, 1965, Bishop Josef Stimpfle was able to consecrate the new church. The entire village, first documented in 1080, burned down completely between May 2nd and 3rd, 1632, during the Thirty Years' War, when the Swedes and their Saxon allies were encamped there. Only the church was spared from the flames.

The little church stands in the small village directly behind a lumber yard, which spoils the picture a little.
