The carved stone shows a deep plough. Because a large part of the Eleonorenwald is not that old at all, but only originated in the very late 1880s - 1950s, partly to quickly gain growing wood for mining. The most original part of the forest covers about 50 hectares and is called "Langelt". Since the Arrenberger people wanted to use the forest economically, they bought up large areas of land and broke up the heathland with huge deep ploughs so that coniferous trees could be planted. You can find such a deep plough in front of the museum village in Cloppenburg. You should definitely take a look at it - and you don't have to go INTO the museum for that, it's standing outside.

Rastdorf was created as exactly that: as a place to rest for people who walked the old church path from Gehlenberg to Werlte. At the Koloniestein there are signs telling about it, seating and a small shelter

The colony stone at the corner of Nordstrasse and Alter Werlter Weg commemorates the Rastdorf colony, which existed long before the time when many delusional people were resettled in 1941 from what was once the largest village in the Hümmling, including to Rastdorf. It hit them much better than those who were supposed to find their supposed new home in Silesia at the time. But the destruction of Wahn in favor of a military test site (today WTD 91) also meant a significant change for Rastdorf. For a long time, this highlight led a shadowy existence, a little wallflower on the outskirts. In 2022, however, decided with Leader funding according to the will of the LAG (local action group Hümmling) (https://www.leader-huemmling.de/ueber-uns) with 50,000 euros for access roads, tables, benches, shelter and bicycle stands ( hopefully up to date) are awakened from their slumber. It will be interesting to see what happens here over the course of the year.
