It was the original nucleus of the town, founded by the Lombards and enriched by Roman temples and palaces. Today it is a ghost town, a suggestive and timeless place, where you can see the houses and streets carved into the rock, the Byzantine church of Saints Peter and Paul and the remains of the castle and the ducal palace.
