The city is located "amidst seven hills" in the Lindenbach valley. The famous hilltop castle Stargard towers above this valley — a very picturesque setting that attracts many hikers and tourists.

The bench itself is a bit dated, to put it mildly, but the view over the valley is truly fantastic. Taking a short break here is a really good idea.

The shelter is now completely overgrown and falling into disrepair. It is no longer usable. The bridge is also visibly deteriorating. On the Dewitz side, the hiking trail is overgrown and partially blocked off with wire fencing towards the adjacent pasture.

The simple, towerless hall building is constructed of neatly stacked fieldstone and has a straight east end with a group of three windows. The gable features a recessed triple blind, and the chancel windows are decorated with plaster moldings and red stained-glass arched crosses. The entrance portal is projecting, while the portals of the lay and priest's doors on the south side have been bricked up. A freestanding wooden bell cage houses two steel bells from the Bochum Association Foundry dating from 1878. The interior features a flat wooden beam ceiling and simple wooden furnishings, including an altar table, pulpit, pews, and a Hinkel harmonium in the chancel and another in the west gallery. Memorial plaques for the victims of the world wars hang on the walls.
