Reichelshofen, located on the former postal road from Würzburg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, has long been a post station, rest stop and inn. From 1755 onwards, Franconian beer was proven to have been brewed here. Of course, according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. One of our beers is named after the historically most famous mayor of the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Heinrich Toppler. Incidentally, he was the owner of our property in Reichelshofen in the late Middle Ages. After many changes of ownership, the Wörner family took over the brewery in 1913. It was only with the construction of the motorway (A7) that the flow of traffic shifted. The village idyll has remained. Instead of arriving by stagecoach, guests now come to the brewery inn as hikers, cyclists, motorcyclists or by car. The pictures below show how the inn and brewery have changed over the last century to their current appearance. https://www.landwehr-braeu.com/landwehr#geschichte

The Landwehr-Bräu beer hiking trail of the brewery in Reichelshofen is 11 kilometers long. Starting from the brewery, the hiking trail leads to a small village pond with a rest area. It continues along the Fischbach to Steinsfeld, where two restaurants with beer gardens invite you to take a break. The trail leads via Hartershofen, past the Gypshütte and through the forest back to the starting point in Reichelshofen.

The hall church is the former hospital church, consecrated in 1254, which belonged to a hospital served by the Order of St. John that was founded by Emperor Barbarossa at the end of the 12th century. After the Reformation, the Hospitallers withdrew from the hospital in 1559 and the church fell into disrepair.
