The locomotive was erected as a monument in front of the engineering school in Offenburg on April 11, 1972. In 1980, the city of Offenburg acquired the locomotive from Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) for DM 22,600 and loaned it to the university of applied sciences. The locomotive was repainted in the spring of 1982. The university of applied sciences finally received the locomotive as a gift from the city of Offenburg in 2001. https://eisenbahn-museumsfahrzeuge.de/index.php/deutschland/staatsbahnfahrzeuge/dampflokomotiven/baureihe-183/18-323
