This memorial plaque in front of the funeral hall and at the main entrance to the North Cemetery in Bockenheim is very difficult to read (depending on the sunlight). It is rather hidden, directly behind one of the benches placed in front of the funeral hall. The memorial plaque was unveiled here on November 9, 2000, as part of a commemoration of the Kristallnacht pogrom of 1938, organized by the Bockenheim branch of the Association of Christian Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. It contains the names of eight Jewish Bockenheim residents. "All were transported to Ludwigshafen by open truck on October 21, 1940, with the option of taking a few belongings, and from there, along with other Palatinate Jews, they were deported by train to Gurs (southern France) [on October 22]. All eight named individuals either died in Gurs or a neighboring camp/hospital or were murdered in Auschwitz. "The memorial plaque also features Norbert Schneider's winning poem from the 1994 dialect poetry competition: 'Em Jaab sei Leicht'." In summer it's a wonderful place to cool down a bit in the heat. The "zigzag path" up the hill south of the stream is beautifully decorated with small animal figures.

The plural of Trullo actually means Trulli and not Trullos - And trullas are something else again.😇
