The Dhünn is the largest tributary of the Wupper River. It rises in the Bergisches Land region and flows into the Rhine near Leverkusen together with the Wupper. The Dhünnweg runs upstream from Leverkusen along the beautiful Dhünn River to the Große Dhünn Dam. After leaving Neulandpark, you cycle along the "Alleedhünn" past the Stadtpark and the BayArena to the Dhünn Park landscape with Morsbroich Castle at its center. Continuing along the Dhünn and through the center of Leverkusen-Schlebusch, you leave the urban area towards Odenthal, passing the former Osenau weir. You cycle upstream past the parish church of St. Pankratius and see Strauweiler Castle in the distance.

The "DhünnRunde" (orange signpost) is highly recommended, not to be confused with the "DhünnRadweg". My start for this tour is in Burscheid on the Balkantrasse. Here you leave the route and follow the signposted path via Altenberg (Altenberger Dom), Odenthal, Schlebusch, Manfort, Leverkusen Stadium, Neuland Park, (detour: Wacht am Rhein, restaurant), actually the mouth of the Wupper, (but currently a huge construction site) so take the "DhünnRADWEG" towards Reuschenberger Mühlengraben, there the DhünnRUNDE is signposted again, first on BonnerStraße, then along the Wupper to Opladen and from here on the Balkantrasse back to Burscheid... Have fun!
