Great view over the countryside from the south across the west to the north. And of course over Bad Tatzmannsdorf with Avita Therme & Co.

The idea of building an observation platform on water reservoirs is often found in Südburgenland. This one impresses with a really beautiful view from the south, across the west, to the north. Only to the east are the wooded foothills of the Alps blocking the view. You will also find two panels here that provide information depending on the viewing direction. Tip: If it is too hot (the platform offers no shade), you will find large cherry trees a little below the platform, in whose shade you can cool off.

The classicist hall church is a listed building and was built between 1783 and 1787. The east tower with the high onion dome was added in 1846. In front of the church, you will find some seating areas and a fountain in the small park. The war memorial also stands next to the church.

Update April 2026: The tower of the children's and bird experience world is currently being converted into a climbing paradise and is almost finished. Now there are great climbing walls instead of caged birds! For more information on opening hours etc., please contact the municipality of Rechnitz at https://www.rechnitz.at/de/

The small sacred monument we encounter on the Geschriebenstein, in the form of a summit cross, is—besides the view it offers—perhaps also the perfect place for a brief moment of reflection. A few years ago, Christiane Völkel commented on the wonderfully fitting sentence by the Italian poet Francesco Petrarch (who lived in the 14th century), "Everywhere one has heaven above oneself," as follows: "What is the use of prayer? This question moves me (...) I have found for myself the answer and the certainty that when I pray I am with the Lord, or rather, that when I pray he is often noticeably closer to me than usual. Thus, I retain the possibility of pouring out my heart to him (...) This intimacy with him makes me believe in him."

Burgenland's first artificial lake was built between 1962 and 1964 and is located in the tranquil and picturesque Faludital valley. It is approximately 300 m long, 100 m wide, and a maximum of 7 m deep. The bathing lake is fed by springs on the southern slope of the Geschriebenstein and boasts excellent water quality. There is a bathing lake buffet with a seating terrace on the south shore and a snack bar on the north shore. The water slide, the sun island, the diving tower (jumping heights of 3 and 5 meters), and the large swing area also offer plenty of additional entertainment. Free admission to the bathing lake with the Burgenland Card. Price without the card: €3.80 (valid for 2025). Discounts are available for families, seniors, schoolchildren, and students.
