Alois Josef Ruckert (born 1846 in Stellberg/Rhön, died on November 17, 1916 in Würzburg) was a dialect poet and worked as a village schoolteacher in Maibach from 1877 to 1881. His Franconian dictionary of the "Lower Franconian Dialect - Expressions, Sayings, Proverbs" received considerable attention. During his time in Maibach, he lived on the ground floor of the schoolhouse on the village square, married and father of four daughters. A memorial plaque installed in 2012 commemorates him. He taught children on the first floor of the building, which also served as the town hall at the time. At the same time, he served as a parish clerk and church minister, cantor, organist, sexton, bell ringer, and clock winder. Source: Mainpost and former district heritage officer Karl-Heinz Henning

The Wern River flows through the municipality from northwest to southeast in a valley over 100 m wide. In the town area, the difference in altitude from the Wern valley floor (234 m above sea level) to the heights (approx. 265 m above sea level) is a good 30 m.[6] The rock layers of the Lower Keuper cut through by the river incision are only superficially exposed on the steeper slopes east of the Wern. The rocks are predominantly gray to colorful mudstones (partly quartzite slate) and marl, with interspersed gray and yellow limestone beds and sandstone deposits (including factory sandstone), as well as isolated coal-rich layers. The slopes west of the Wern and the surrounding heights, on the other hand, are predominantly covered by glacial loess (blown from the west).[7] Fertile, parabrown soils formed in the loess during the Holocene, but these soils are now barely preserved due to soil erosion caused by intensive agricultural use over centuries. In the rocks of the Lower Keuper (relocated by solifluction during the glacial period), denser and less productive loamy-clayey soils developed. The Werngrund region is predominantly composed of alluvial loams.[8] The river overflows its banks there almost every year. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberwerrn
