The house was formerly an inn that was also a hotel, bar, and variety theater and is closely associated with the time of the US troops in Baumholder. In 2012 it was demolished and rebuilt true to the original, with a modern cube added as an extension. The cultural center opened in September 2018. In addition to the museum, the city library and the tourist information office are also housed here. The listed Old Town Hall is a seven-bay, three-story neoclassical hipped roof building from 1840, built shortly after Baumholder became Prussian. With its small tower and town clock, it is one of the few buildings in the city that survived the great fire of 1880. Until 1981, the administration of the district or association was located here; today it houses the city office, adult education center, local history museum, and municipal meeting place.
