The need for security was likely decisive for the abandonment of the Schweinheim settlement and the move to the fortified village of Jockgrim. To this day, the "Schweinheimer Kirchel" has been preserved as a relic of the abandoned settlement of Schweinheim. Initially, Jockgrim had no parish church, so this little church served as the parish church until the 15th century. Furthermore, until 1785, deceased persons were occasionally buried in the cemetery next to the Schweinheimer Kirchel. The pilgrimage probably dates back to the people's attachment to the former mother church, where a black image of the Mother of God was venerated from ancient times. To promote the pilgrimage, Pope Leo XIII granted indulgences to pilgrims in 1892. The pilgrimage and the little church survived all the storms of time. On the feast of the Visitation of Mary (July 2nd), the main pilgrimage day, many pilgrims gather annually at this pilgrimage site.

A lovely historical gem in an otherwise rather monotonous area.

The church building is a six-bay hall church, likely built in the second half of the 18th century in the Baroque style. It was remodeled and enlarged in 1835 and 1836. The stone tower integrated into the front facade replaced the previous wooden tower in 1890. It is crowned by a cupola consisting of a bulbous dome with a lantern on top. The castle is well-lit at night, glowing a bright orange. However, caution is advised when driving around the castle tower, as the ground lights can be blinding.
