The Protestant parish church of St. Martin is located in Metzingen, a town in the district of Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg. The current Metzinger United Church Community[1] belongs to the Bad Urach-Münsingen church district of the Evangelical State Church in Württemberg. The building is registered as a cultural monument by the State Office for Monument Preservation Baden-Württemberg. The late Gothic hall church with a five-bay nave was built around 1500 to replace a Romanesque predecessor. It consists of a central nave and two side aisles, a recessed, three-sided choir at the east end of the central nave, and a church tower at the west end in front of the central nave. Heinrich Schickhardt heightened and completed the tower in 1613 to 57 meters. In 1873, senior building director Christian Friedrich von Leins consistently redesigned the interior of St. Martin's Church according to the principles of the Eisenach Regulation, including moving the new pulpit from the third north pillar (where it had been since 1613) to the front of the north chancel arch. This was accompanied by a new seating arrangement facing the pulpit and the altar. For the vaulting of the nave and side aisles, he used an innovative construction technique that he had previously tested for the vaulting of the Tübingen Collegiate Church: neither an unaffordable solid stone construction nor an inexpensive wooden vault, but a vault with cast cement ribs and lightweight tuff stone vault fields. They've finally removed that annoying bollard on the valley side. Now you can get around the bend properly.

The cycle path on the dam is nice, but coming from Zizishausen you have to be careful not to miss the entrance on the left, otherwise you won't have the chance to get onto it again until later.
