Casa Camuzzi, a fairytale palazzo Casa Camuzzi was built in 1853 by the Ticinese architect Agostino Camuzzi, who had worked on the expansion of the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, among other projects. The building looks like a small castle: a playful palazzo with baroque and neo-Gothic elements, reminiscent of a Russian country estate. It is surrounded by a lush, terraced park with palm trees, cedars, chestnut trees, magnolias, eucalyptus, and wisteria. Casa Camuzzi is probably the most important place in Hermann Hesse's life. We've been here several times over the past three years, and we've never had as many specialty flavors as we did yesterday (July 22, 2025). The mandarin orange and bergamot, for example, were brilliant. Both had bits of peel in them, which was wonderfully refreshing.
