Beautiful on both sides! From Mervelier, you first have to conquer a few short, steep ramps, then the road flattens out and you go directly along the stream through the narrow valley. From the Scheltenmühle onwards, it climbs steeply again; there are 300 meters of altitude gain from there to the pass crossing. At the very top, a short detour to the Vorder Erzberg mountain inn is worthwhile. There you can refuel and enjoy a fantastic view towards Passwang.

Instead of the two main roads from Boécourt or Develier up to the Col des Rangiers, there's a lovely alternative: this route up or down a lovely valley—depending on your direction. Little traffic, good asphalt, and beautiful nature all around. Perfect.

The route between Moutier and Delémont is a beautiful route, with mainly decent asphalted surface but there are some places near the industrial areas where the asphalt is a bit rough but overall good a surface. Geological speaking it offers a lot of unusual rock formations creating nice backgrounds for photos. The route and following the River Birse which flows all the way to Basel.
