The coastal artillery battery BAS 31 was built in 1954 east of Ustronie Morskie (Henkenhagen). It was part of the Polish coastal defense during the Cold War and was intended to repel enemy warships. It was equipped with four 130 mm naval guns, a radar system, and camouflaged reinforced concrete bunkers. The facility was designed for 98 soldiers. Due to the development of missile weapons, coastal artillery lost its importance, so the battery was decommissioned in 1974. In the 1980s, the area was still under military supervision before it was later made accessible to the public.

A plaque announcing the BAS (Fixed Artillery Battery), which was tasked with protecting the coast from attack during the Cold War. A good dose of history, with a touch of menace.

These marshes are officially the Eastern Ecopark—some consider them one of the greatest natural attractions in Poland. A wealth of wild life thrives here, especially birds (which make beautiful calls). Cranes, black-headed gulls, terns... it's beautiful and natural here.
