The lake, with a surface area of 0.69 ha and a maximum depth of 1.2 m, is strictly protected to preserve its dystrophic character and the natural process of succession. Kacze Oko is a dystrophic lake, where the only submerged plant is the sparse bladderwort Utricularia minor. A significant portion of this area is home to the floating pondweed Potamogeton natans, and small clusters of the northern water lily Nymphaea candida occur near the shore. Due to the lack of light caused by the water's discoloration, there is a lack of underwater vegetation at the bottom. The ecotone zone has developed as a patch of land extending onto the reservoir surface, composed primarily of peat mosses, primarily the pointed-leafed Sphagnum cuspidatum, and plants typical of peat bogs: round-leaved sundew Drosera rotundifolia, common rosemary Andromeda polifolia, marsh cranberry Oxycoccus palustris, peat bog Scheuchzeria palustris, white beak Rhynchospora alba, and marsh sedge Carex limosa. In Lake Kacze Oko, the ichthyofauna is represented by two species: the common crucian carp Carassius carassius and the common stickleback Pungitius pungitius.
