Tips from the Community

Wojciech Winnik
June 10, 2025, Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland, Ustrzyki Dolne

Unusual expansion of the church - the new part was built crosswise, on the right side of the old building. Usually, a new part of the church is built in the axis of the old one, as was done in Polańczyk or in Jaworzno, where the main nave was demolished and replaced with a new one of greater width. In Rymanów Zdrój, the main nave was expanded with side aisles, extending the old window openings to the floor and moving the stained glass windows to the new walls. Is it possible? It is possible 😀 WW

A section of the blue bike route. Quite good asphalt, suitable for road bikes.

It is worth going on such an adventure by bike - there is a place to rest and eat something

The views are extensive, but first you have to overcome the steep slope. I drove this way to Kalwaria on a hot day +33°C and I do not recommend this section in such weather, because there are only two shaded places. In hot weather or when there is a risk of a storm, it is better to take the road from the north, i.e. from Nowosiółki Dydyńskie. WW

During the drought, the flow of water is negligible and the passage or passage on foot does not cause any difficulties, on the contrary - it gives an opportunity to cool down during the heat. However, it should be remembered that the Wiar is a very capricious river, rapidly rising during rainfall, hence setting up a camp by the water in the event of an unexpected flood wave can lead to a tragedy. Friends told me how, during a bicycle trip in the 1980s, they sheltered from a downpour in an unfinished brick building near the river. It was evening, they were waiting there for the rain to stop. After a short time, the water flooded the area, broke into the ground floor, so they escaped to the second floor - they were lucky that the building was two-story and had stairs ready. They had no way to call for help, because there were no cell phones back then. They had to wait until morning, in the dark, on concrete. Unforgettable adventure :-/

The parish church in Ustrzyki Dolne was built in the neo-Gothic style (...) in 1908-1909 according to the design of Jan Tarczałowicz. The church survived the difficult period of World War I and II without major damage. Only after the Soviet army entered Ustrzyki, the interior suffered as a result of changing the temple into a grain warehouse. At that time, the image of Our Lady of the Scapular, remaining in the main altar, venerated as the image of the Queen of Poland, was also destroyed. In 1951, when the borders were corrected, Ustrzyki Dolne returned to Poland. The rebuilt and expanded church was blessed and consecrated in the passing year 2022, on May 22, by Fr. Archbishop Adam Szal, Metropolitan of Przemyśl (...) Source and more: https://parafianmpustrzyki.pl/historia/
