An open quay with a clear line along the river, once the heart of a busy port and ferry connection. The shipbuilding and trade that took place here for centuries still give the place a quiet historical undertone. This was also an important point along the Old Crosshaven Railway, whose current greenway route follows the old railway line.

Not quite a beach, but a water access point in the beautiful enchanted forest. This romantic spot is perfect for a long break or a picnic overlooking the water – even more beautiful at high tide, of course. You can also continue along the shore path; I did that once, but it was quite challenging, walking over extremely rocky and slippery sections.

Midleton's magnificent, enchanted town forest invites you to explore! There's a main loop and numerous smaller side paths. Depending on the season, it can get a bit muddy and there are wild ups and downs, but it's probably most beautiful here in April, when the bluebells are in bloom and the forest floor looks like a blue carpet.

Many legends surround the ruins of the fortified manor house from the early 17th century. It is said to have originally looked like a French chateau with its 3 towers. I found the best information on this site: https://midletonwith1d.wordpress.com/tag/ballyannan/

A small green area with some good benches and a large memorial stone commemorates former US President John F Kennedy. His sister was the American ambassador to Ireland. She donated this place of remembrance, which was inaugurated in 1994.
