Jamie S.
January 23, 2025, Riverside Bike Trail

The Riverside Bike Trail in Yellowstone National Park offers a 1.4-mile (2.2 km) ride from the park's West Entrance to Barns Road, providing access to a pretty section of the Madison River. This relatively flat trail travels on dirt and gravel; the surface is an old paved road that is starting to disintegrate. Like everywhere in Yellowstone, you should remain vigilant for black and grizzly bears in the area.

The Yellowstone Shortline Trail is a hiking and biking trail that is built on an abandoned railway line. This section runs from West Yellowstone to the border of Idaho and is a mix of gravel and paved surfaces.

The first opportunity to take a little tour after the entrance to Yellowstone NP, you have a wonderful view of the Madison River in front of snow-covered mountains

Yellowstone West Entrance is the most popular entrance to Yellowstone NP but the Riverside Ski Trail is not crowded. The hike along the Madison River (Upriver loop + Downriver loop) is quiet and easy. The Trail is also known to be a great skiing spot in winter.
