Catamount Trail is a well-maintained twisty stretch through the dense fir woods. This trail is popular with hikers, but even more popular with mountain bikes. There is nice vegetation and wildlife along the way. This trail is dog friendly, but keep them close.

Buck Mountain Loop Trail is a hiker, dog, mountain bike, running, and birding friendly trail. The trail meanders through old growth forests with gigantic firs, wildflowers, mushrooms, and of course moss!

Croisan Creek Trail is a great out and back trail that is close to the city and dog friendly. There is a waste station along the trail which keeps the trail clean and doesn't make you carry anything with you. The flat trail travels through a thick mossy forest with plenty of wildlife (including cougars) to spot.

A short .3 mile hike from the North Falls Trailhead brings you to the thundering North Falls, a 136 foot, double-barreled waterfall that you can also walk behind. If you are short on time at Silver Falls State Park and can only do a short hike, this falls is a worthy destination.

The South Falls Cafe is in the historic South Falls Lodge, built in 1936 by the Civilian Construction Corps in the traditional lodge style you find at many US National Parks. Grab a breakfast burrito and coffee or load up on snacks before heading out on your hike (it opens at 10 am) or enjoy a hot lunch and cold beer once you finish while enjoying this piece of living history.

This is the tallest waterfall in Silver Falls State Park. It is a great place to go, if you don't want to do the whole Trail of Ten Falls, as it is very close to the trailhead.
