This is a fantastic trailhead in the center of downtown Durango. There are restrooms, river access, and plenty of parking. From here you can cross the Fassbinder Bridge to follow the Animas River north or take a left at the water to wind south along the river through Durango.

If you are already in the area, you should take some time for a stroll through downtown Durango – a Nationally Registered Historic District – with its beautiful historic buildings, nice restaurants and cool breweries. Durango is also the southern terminus of the famous steam train, that you can ride on between here and Silverton.
