The Sint Janskerk (German: Sankt-Johannes-Kirche) in Gouda, Netherlands, is a Gothic, five-aisled cruciform basilica dedicated to John the Baptist, the patron saint of Gouda. At 123 m long, the church is the longest church in the Netherlands. The western third is built predominantly of brick, the eastern two-thirds predominantly of tuff the size of bricks. Decorations and many window frames are made of ashlar. The Sint Janskerk is especially known for its Gouda stained glass windows (Dutch: de Goudse glazen). About half of all surviving 16th-century stained glass windows in the Netherlands are said to be located here.[1] The most famous Dutch stained glass artists of their time, Dirck Crabeth and his brother Wouter Crabeth, who was 15 years younger, created ten and four of the stained glass windows, respectively, between 1555 and 1577.

The Gouwekerk is a former Roman Catholic neo-Gothic cruciform church in the Dutch city of Gouda. Located on Hoge Gouwe Street in Gouda's city center, the church dates back to the early twentieth century. The Gouwekerk is a cruciform church built of red brick. At the intersection of the roof is a hexagonal, partially openwork spire. This crossing tower is visible from afar and, at approximately 80 meters, is the highest point in the city.

Gouda's historic city center is known for its charming canals, medieval streets, and monumental buildings. Highlights include the Gothic town hall on the Markt square and St. John's Church, famous for its stained-glass windows. The city exudes history, with old buildings, charming squares, and traditional crafts such as cheese markets.

To visit the Oude Kerk, you have to pay an entrance fee. There are combination tickets that allow you access to both the Oude Kerk and the Nieuwe Kerk. Did you know that the bell tower of the Oude Kerk is leaning? From ground level to the spire, the difference is almost 2 meters. Incidentally, unlike the Nieuwe Kerk, the tower of the Oude Kerk is "not" open to visitors. We were impressed by the large, colorful, light-filled windows in this church, which, by the way, is still used as a place of worship on weekends and holidays.
