Hotel Vesting Bourtange is not really a hotel, but a charming accommodation within the Bourtange fortress. The reception is located outside the fortress at the reception center, which has very limited opening hours. Outside opening hours, you will find the key in a key box, the code for which is sent in advance. The rooms are located in buildings on the outer edge of the small market square, where there are also two catering establishments where you can have dinner. The hotel has no secure bicycle storage. Bicycles can be attached to a bike rack in front of the room, but they are outside. And charging the batteries must also be done in the room. The room has wifi, television with Flemish TV channels, no air conditioning, but a refrigerator, no terrace but a nice view of the fortress houses. A spacious room with laminate flooring, a spacious bed with a firm mattress, coffee service and a modest bathroom. With a shower in the bathtub behind a shower curtain and with the toilet in the bathroom. Breakfast is offered in the same building, but through a different door that is only accessible from the outside. No breakfast buffet, no free choice, but sufficient. We rate this (bike) hotel with 3.5/5.
