The Golegã National Horse Fair, also known as the São Martinho Fair, is an event with historical roots dating back to 1571, when it was established as an annual fair. Over the centuries, the fair has evolved and established itself as an important center for the exhibition and sale of the Lusitano horse, attracting breeders, riders and enthusiasts from all over the country and abroad.

This is a cafe called "Estou no trabalho". It means "I'm at work". So, the husband is at the cafe and his wife calls him to find out where he is. Then, the husband says he's at work. And, which is true! 😂🤪🤣😇

Golegã has long since become the Horse Capital. The day of São Martinho de Feira, which was traditionally the 11th of November, became the most beautiful and unique public equestrian show that takes place free of charge among us. The competition program is very extensive and varied: Ralies, Raids, Equestrian Games, Championships, Carriage Marathon, Exhibitions, are some of the most beautiful shows that are held in Golegã in its presentation of the horse. And to complement the festivities, justifying the popular adage that "Around São Martinho taste the wine", there will be no shortage of agua-pé and the always-desired roasted chestnuts.

Very simple small village restaurant. Very warm and friendly welcome. Very generous cuisine, very well served. I recommend the free-range chicken raised in this same village. The restaurant has a place to keep bicycles. The region lends itself very well to the practice of road cycling with beautiful roads in the middle of the countryside and with very little car traffic.
