The Eider, Schleswig-Holstein's longest river, stretches 188 kilometers from its source to its mouth in the North Sea. The river begins in the hilly moraine region south of Kiel, more precisely at the Heickenteich and a small lake on the Schönhagen estate. From there, the Eider winds its way through the state in numerous twists and turns, initially as the Upper Eider, past Rendsburg, where it empties into the Kiel Canal. The river's course is interrupted by the canal but continues westward until it empties into the North Sea near Tönning.

The Uhlenkrog animal enclosure is located in Hassee, between Struckdieksau and Uhlenkrog. Accessibility: The entrance is somewhat hidden in the area of Rendsburger Landstraße / Hasseer Straße. At 2.7 hectares, the smallest enclosure is dominated by a grassland interspersed with hedgerows, home to white fallow deer and Soay sheep. Some very old fruit trees grow on the northern grassland. There are also two ponds on the site. The enclosure is connected to the network of hiking trails along the Struckdieksau and can be reached from the center of Hassee.
