A 15th-century medieval bridge spanning the Èvre River. A beautiful view of the Montrevault fortress, though well hidden by the trees. An old mill has been converted into a tourist lodge. Note: A picnic area on the banks of the Èvre River on the right bank offers a view of the bridge from below.

Medieval castle built around the year 1000 by the Count of Anjou, Foulques Nerra. It was only at the end of the 10th century that the Mauges region, previously under Breton control, was incorporated into Anjou. The construction of a stronghold at Montrevault was intended to show its Breton and Poitevin neighbors who the new ruler was.

A 19th-century neo-Gothic church. The old town center isn't bustling with life. There's no bakery or grocery store. A bit bleak, like many villages these days, unfortunately. At least you'll find restrooms with a water tap in a parking lot at the bottom of Rue du Commerce.

A vast forest, very pleasant for mountain biking. The section south of the D92 is very smooth, while the northern section is a more rock 'n' roll singletrack (and I imagine more aquatic in winter). I met some hikers coming from a southbound path that looked very passable, although it doesn't appear on Komoot. There's a way to make a very nice circuit if you have time on site. For my part, I took the path east towards the "hippodrome," which is really nice. However, you have to cross a stream by walking on a beam. See photo.
