This door, which appears medieval, does not go unnoticed with its two towers and the battlements of its curtain wall. Make no mistake, it was built in 1928 on the initiative of Mrs. Belmont, an American national, then owner of the Augerville castle. This gate now belongs to the commune of Boulancourt.

Very beautiful village which is definitely worth the detour. You can notably discover its castle, built in the 13th century under Philippe Auguste. Don't hesitate to dismount and take a walk in the pedestrian part of the village.

St-Mathurin Basilica - Very beautiful Gothic church of which only the chevet remains intact. The bell tower and the western facade are in ruins and the southern facade has collapsed.

Contrary to what the Komoot map indicates, this road is paved and perfectly passable if you are ready to accept the irregularities of a bitumen in a forest environment. However, I strongly advise you to take it in the direction of the climb, ie coming from Bourron-Marlotte and going up towards the north to finish on the round road. It runs along an integral biological reserve and leads to the fairy pond.

Although the church is commonly referred to as a basilica, it has not been designated as such by the pope and is therefore not a basilica under Church rules. This church had to undergo many vicissitudes over the centuries, damage from armed troops, hurricanes, storms. Irremediable damage took place during the wars of religion. Restoration work was carried out in an emergency and without great care during the 19th century, in order to allow the reopening of the church for worship. The church was listed as a Historic Monument by Prosper Mérimée in the mid-19th century. And so it is that a part has remained in a state of ruin, while the main body of the church remains maintained, and can therefore shelter the exercise of worship or religious ceremonies. Please note that there is a drinking water tap with free access under the trees in the small square below the church.
