Previously, the bridges were made of wood and covered, hence the name. They were long ago replaced by new ones made of stone and without a roof. The name has remained. It refers to the bridges as well as the towers (three out of four still stand), which together previously formed a defensive structure.

Picturesque part of the old town with many pretty half-timbered houses right on the water and three small river islands.

There's a small lock under the bridge, where the water flows much faster and practically roars. A very atmospheric contrast to the otherwise tranquil canals.

A very beautiful historic street right on the Ill river. This is where La Petite France begins, one of the most atmospheric corners of Strasbourg.

The weir was originally built as a defensive structure, allowing downstream areas to be flooded if necessary. Today, there's a pedestrian crossing over the Ill River on two levels: inside or on the roof. It's refreshingly cool inside in summer, and you can admire baroque stone figures in some niches. From the top, you'll enjoy one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Old Town. 👍

Place Kléber, or Kléberplatz as it is called in German, is located in the heart of Strasbourg's city centre. In its centre is a popular photo motif: the statue of General Kléber, General of the French Revolutionary Army. The square also invites you to linger and stroll
