This is what it must have looked like everywhere here in the past... relatively quiet and well-paved roads with few modern finca factory products and lots of old houses, gently rolling hills with a wide variety of options. Maybe even up to Alhaurín Golf Club?? if so, then almost certainly with gravel and rough concrete roads... unfortunately I didn't have time to try it.

There are still numerous towers along the Costa del Sol today. They were built to protect the bay from the Barbary states, who not only plundered the coastal villages but also enslaved them. Many towers were already built by the Moors. The tower of Mijas is of a “newer” type and is more in keeping with the fortress architecture of the 18th century

Wooden walkway parallel to the beautiful beaches of Cala de Mijas and Calahonda. Beautiful landscape, I recommend the early hours of the morning to observe the sunrise.

One of the watchtowers that belonged to the surveillance and defense system of the old Kingdom of Granada. Also known as La Torre Batería, it was built in the second half of the 18th century. Tower open to the public, until 3:00 p.m.

The tower is a nice landmark next top Cabopino beach. There is a big parking spot about 200m north of the tower, which is a good starting point for a beach walk. Some historical information: This tower is part of the coastal defensive system arranged by the Christian monarchs after the conquest of this territory from the Muslims. It is a pyramidal trunk building, with a square base, which rises like a prism, decreasing in size as it grows in height. It has three floors and a terrace. These towers were arranged as guard posts, more or less equidistant from each other and on the coastline. Almenara, from Arabic, means lighthouse or place where there is light, alluding to the fires that were made on the terrace of the tower, which was the code established to warn of the presence of enemy vessels. Its construction is attributed to the time of Muslim domination. (Source: https://turismo.marbella.es/en/life/culture/item/1880-torre-ladrones-o-torre-de-los-ladrones.html)
